How drag-and-drop makes lineups easier

Most lineup tools make you edit text fields or dropdown menus to assign positions. You type a name, pick a position from a list, repeat for every player, then try to visualize what you've built.

OnTheField shows you a baseball or softball field with position slots. Just grab a player and drag them to where they're playing. Swap two players by dragging one onto the other. Move the batting order with a simple vertical drag. It's the difference between editing a spreadsheet and actually looking at your lineup.

Position slots highlight valid targets, and Auto-Assign uses preferred positions and playing-time history to suggest a balanced rotation.

Frequently asked questions

Does drag-and-drop work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It is built for touch, so you can drag players on a phone at the field just like on a laptop.

Can I lock an inning while I arrange the rest?

Yes. Lock an inning and Auto-Assign will leave that inning alone while you work on the others. Position-level locking is not currently available.

How do I swap two players?

Drag one player onto another and they trade positions — no menus, no re-typing.

Can I drag to reorder the batting order too?

Yes. The batting order is a separate vertical drag list, independent of the field positions.
