Free Youth Baseball Lineup Tool

Coaching youth baseball means every kid gets their turn. OnTheField helps you build fair lineups that track playing time, rotate positions, and keep parents happy — without a spreadsheet.

Build a Youth Lineup

Built for how youth baseball works

Youth baseball isn't the majors. Positions rotate, and "fair" matters more than "optimal." OnTheField tracks innings played, positions assigned, and bench time so you can spot imbalances before the game.

Auto-Assign uses your roster history and preferences to suggest rotations. Switch positions between innings, track who's played what, and give every player experience at different spots. You still verify the lineup against your league's rules.

Fair play tracking

Innings, positions, and bench time tracked automatically across games. Know who needs more playing time at a glance.

Batch roster entry

Add your whole roster at once. Name and number fields are built for speed — tab through them in seconds.

Per-inning management

Set defensive alignments inning by inning. Swap players freely — the tool remembers who's played where.

Shared bench view

Share a read-only link with your assistant coach or team parent. Everyone sees the same lineup.

Frequently asked questions

Does it track mandatory play or minimum-innings rules?

It counts innings, positions, and bench time per player so you can review playing time. It does not validate league-specific mandatory-play or minimum-innings rules.

Can it auto-assign so every kid gets equal time?

Auto-Assign uses preferred positions, prior positions, bench time, and position history to suggest a balanced lineup. Review and adjust the result by hand.

Does it work for Little League and Cal Ripken?

It can help coaches in Little League, Cal Ripken, and rec leagues plan lineups, but it does not enforce the rules for a specific league or tournament.

Is it really free for rec-league coaches?

Yes. Build and print lineups without an account. Sign in when you want account-backed sync and multiple teams.
